CONGRATS BURBERRY!

Let me just start by saying that the beige jacket above is my favourite in the entire Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011 collection. Christopher Bailey, I congratulate you! The shoulder detail mimicks the 80s in a fresh and alien-like style. She looks like an amazone - ready for battle and prepared for war.

The rest of the collection marries neon belts and accessoires with beautiful biker-inspired leather pants. Amid the standard Burberry beige pops a delectable plum-purple, acid green and sunshine yellow. Little details, everywhere: visible zippers in the leather pants, with shoes that the sleek V-line shapes of the coats. The rest of the collection is reduced. The styling very natural. What remains to be said except Burberry - we love you!

OH MY, MIU MIU!

Paging through the latest W magazine, I stumbled onto the glorious ads of the latest Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2010/2011 campaign. The girls have almost no eyebrows. Their eyes are surrounded by smudges of fresh spring colours. Like retro panda bears. What is there not to love, clothes included?

STOP DEPORTATION!

This caught my attention on a walk in the "south city" of Karlsruhe. I'm happy to see some political stencils in a city where many foreigners, immigrants and third-culture kids live. Germany is a fairly homogenous country and its nice to see stencil art addressing the current issues regarding immigration. Its also interesting to note which citiziens the EU is trying to keep outside of their borders.

OLD-SCHOOL PRAGUE CITY LIFE

On any given day one can witness throngs of tourists stampeding over the cobbled city center, snapping picture after picture, of what many consider a living textbook of thousands of years of European architecture. But if you venture away from the tourist hordes you will find a beating pulse of sub division art – sprayed, brushed and splashed in celebration of personal expression.

Something which the older folk were denied by a stifling communist regime, but which the youth are taking to completely new levels. Known as the most liberal country in Europe, with its new drug laws, Prague explores the limits for self expression even more. And becomes more eroded than before. Artistically, Prague can only go from strength to strength.

I HEART YOU!

Just had to post these because hearts do follow me everywhere I go. The heart is really a timeless image and one I love. This one is just down my road - on my way to work - in the quaint city of Karlsruhe. Beautifuuul.

KOREAN ANIME THAT MY STUDENT MADE ME

A poster a friend designed (of) for me. The cartoon-comic-book style is very popular at the moment. These type of drawings are called Manhwa.

BEER CANS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Unlike my home country, there are no alcohol laws in Czech Republic. It has created a relaxed and open attitude towards drinking in public spaces. You can drink everywhere: on the sidewalks, in the park and even in the subway.

GOLDEN BOY IN EUROPE'S GOLDEN CITY

My impressions of the golden city was both grimier and grander than I imagined it. The city is littered with graffiti: drawings on walls, scrawls on doors, cars, nightclubs and church walls. The beautiful houses are clad in gold and falling apart. Communism ended here about 20 years ago and the people of Prague seem to have a lot to express.
